This Sunday I arranged the fishing competition Havnehyggecup 2018 in Nordhavn for the first, but not last, time. The 78 participants hoped to catch the biggest cod, so they would become King Of The Harbour and win exclusive gear prizes.

My idea was to create a free, low key event where we could all meet up for a day of fishing, coffee and fun.
78 participants participated in the cup that lasted from 9.30 to 15.00. The sun was out most of the day and even though it was cold then a lot of the fishermen could warm themselves with some decent catches. We didn´t experience bonanza fishing but a total of 20-25 cod above the minimum mark were caught and so were a lot of smaller cod and flatfish.

At 15.00 the fishermen turned up at the registration area by Portland Towers and displayed a good deal of cod. When the clock showed 15.20 and no new anglers came in with their catches, it was clear that the final positions were as follows:
- Patrick Morell – 66 cm
- Jonas Bosse Johansen – 57,5 cm
- Laurids Røge – 54,5 cm
It was Patrick´s first harbour cod ever and what a way to kick of his fishing in Copenhagen Harbour. His 66 cm cod means that he officially is the King Of The Harbour 2018.

The three anglers won some really nice gear prizes from Gunki, Shimano and Daiwa that gear shop Sport Dres were kind enough to put on the line.
Havnehyggecup 2019
For me it was good fun to arrange the Havnehyggecup for the first time and I can surely say that I will plan a follow up next year in October and November.
Thank you to all the 77 other anglers who turned up. See you all in 2019.
